Axitan expands fermentation team with appointment of Sam Romes
Axitan Limited, a leading biotech company focused on the development of endolysin enzyme products to replace antibiotics in animal feed, today announces the appointment of Sam Romes as Senior Bioprocessing Engineer. He will be responsible for managing the Company’s fermentation processes and overseeing technology transfers to Contract Manufacturing Organisations as the Company builds out its global CMO network.

Endolysins are enzymes with antimicrobial activity that is specific to the pathogen being targeted and form the core of Axitan’s formulated, performance improving, feed additive products. Axitan’s first feed additive in the market, FORC3®, targets Clostridium perfringens, the pathogen that causes necrotic enteritis in poultry.
Sam Romes joins Axitan from alternative food protein company EVERY where he was a Senior Bioprocess Engineer having previously been a Bioprocess Engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Sam has deep experience of manufacturing next-generation products through large-scale fermentation and managing technology transfers to Contract Manufacturing Organizations. Sam holds a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisville.
